Carnaval in Rota!
Carnaval/Carnival in different parts of the World can be different events completely. In this area of the province of Cádiz, satire, fun and music is the big tradition here, with chirigotas (small performing groups of satire), Comparsas are larger in size than chirigotas and also sing of witty or satirical subjects, all wearing the same costumes which are quite creative at times! Lastly the Coros/Choirs are the largest of the carnaval performances. They feature more instruments and the music are more serious homage or ballads to the City, its people and/or the times. All in all the performances are *ALL* well done and worth seeing, with the biggest of this type of Carnaval held in the Theater Falla of Cádiz, and on its streets. If you're intent on enjoying the satire of the chirigotas, your spanish better be excellent to understand!! Enjoy!!Read More
